Announcing Stadia Makers
Since launching in November 2019, developers have launched more than 30 games and 60 game updates on Stadia. We’ve worked with hundreds of you to start your work with us and couldn’t be more thrilled about the 120 games that’ll ship this year alone.
The fact of the matter is that far more studios applied to be a part of our launch than we could work with at the time. Thank you for your ambition, patience, and support that those applications represent. Now that we’re a few months down the road, we’ve improved our tools and built new partnerships that will let us work with more independent studios.
For this expansion of self-publishing, Stadia Makers is partnering with Unity, a team with a long history of building new platforms and gaming services hand-in-hand with the developer community. Unity has worked with thousands of game developers over the years, and today, powers 50% of all new games with optimized support for Stadia and more than 25 other platforms.
Technical Assistance: The experts at Unity are committed to providing developers in the Stadia Makers program with a technical support structure that helps their projects meet targeted alpha, beta, certification, and launch dates.
Free Development Hardware: Stadia Makers participants are eligible to receive up to five physical development kits depending on team size and structure.
Funding: There’s a very real financial consideration when it comes to developing across platforms, and Stadia will offset some of those costs.
Unity Developers: As we pilot this program, we’re looking for developers that are building their game on Unity 2019.3 or later and expect to ship in 2020 and 2021.
Stadia SKU: Increase your game’s reach by adding Stadia to your list of launch-day platforms.
This program will start small and expand to pave the way for development teams of all sizes to bring their titles to Stadia. If you’re interested in getting involved with Stadia Makers, and being one of the first approved developers to self-publish on Stadia with technical assistance from Unity, head to stadia.dev/apply.
